(Catch the Live Cricket Updates of India vs Sri Lanka, 2nd ODI at Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday)
India 71/1 in 19 overs Suraj Randiv comes on to bowl his fourth over. He is bowling a tight line, keeping it stump to stump. Two singles are taken off the first two deliveries, followed by four consecutive dot deliveries. Just two runs scored from the over. Another good one for Sri Lanka, but nothing that would bother the Indian batsmen at the moment.
India 69/1 in 18 overs Tillakaratne Dilshan continues from the other end as the off break bowler come on to bowl his second over. The duo of Ambati Rayudu and Shikhar Dhawan, meanwhile, put on a 50-run partnership. Two dot deliveries in the over. Six runs scored from the over.
India 63/1 in 17 overs Suraj Randiv comes back to bowl after the drinks break. The move to slow the pace of the innings doesn’t seemed to have worked for Sri Lanka. On the contrary, Indians are taking the singles easily and getting the scorecard to move easily. Just while one believed that the boundaries have dried up, Ambati Rayudu goes down the track and hits it straight for a huge six. Nine runs scored from the over.
India 56/1 in 16 overs Tillakaratne Dilshan is brought into the attack, replacing Thisara Perera after the medium pacer went for six runs off his last over. It is a weird tactic by the Sri Lankan skipper to have two off-spinners operating from both ends. Singles are coming easily with the field spread out and more open spaces. Just five runs scored from the over.
India 51/1 in 15 overs Suraj Randiv continues from the other end. he is operating from around the wicket to Shikhar Dhawan. After strangling the Indian batsmen for runs, Ambati Rayudu and Shikhar Dhawan are managing to take the singles and twos easily. the scoreboard is moving at a good pace, without any threat to the wicket. Four runs scored from the over.
India 47/1 in 14 overs Thisara Perera comes on to bowl his second over. He is pitching the ball just short of good length and angling the ball away from the left-hander. The last ball is whipped through the mid wicket region for a boundary. Six runs scored from the over.
India 41/1 in 13 overs Angelo Mathews has brought a change from both the ends. Off-spinner Suraj Randiv comes on to bowl his first over, replacing Dhammika Prasad. Randiv is giving the ball a lot of flight. After straying in line for a couple of deliveries and teasing the batsman outside the off-stump, he returns to bowling stump to stump. Just one run conceded from the over.
India 40/1 in 12 overs Thisara Perera has been introduced into the attack, replacing Lahiru Gamage who went for seven runs off his previous over. Gamage had a good spell of five overs for just 13 runs. Thisara Perera is pitching the ball just short of good length. Just three runs conceded from his first over of the match.
India 37/1 in 11 overs Dhammika Prasad comes on to bowl his third over. He is straying slightly in line, bowling, making it easy for the batsmen to work the ball easily for singles through the leg side. He is much straighter and tighter with his deliveries against the left-handed Ambati Rayudu. Two dots and four singles – four runs scored from the over.
India 33/1 in 10 overs Lahiru Gamage comes on to bowl his fifth over on a trot. the pacer is bowling a tight line, offering little room for the batsmen to free their arms. Sri Lankans pacers have curbed the flow of runs of India in the first Powerplay. Yet, they would have been pleased with one more wicket to their credit. Seven runs scored from the over.
India 26/1 in 9 overs  Dhammika Prasad comes on to bowl his second over. Prasad is generating some good pace. He has an attacking field with two fielders placed at slips. After five good deliveries where he didn’t concede a single run, the last ball is pitched slightly short and enough is given outside the off-stump. Ambati Rayudu latches on to that and slashes it for a boundary through the cover region. Four runs scored from the over.
India 22/1 in 8 overs Lahiru Gamage comes on to bowl his fourth over and hits Shikhar Dhawan on his pads. There is a loud shout for leg before wicket, but it is turned down by the umpire. Replays suggest that Shikhar Dhawan was probably lucky and got away with it. Another good over by the seamer. Five dot deliveries. Just two runs scored from the over.
India 20/1 in 7 overs . Dhammika Prasad has been introduced into the attack, replacing skipper Angelo Mathews The Sri Lankan pacer finally manages to get the first breakthrough as Ajinkya Rahane slashes outside off and presents a catch to Kumar Sangakkara. The wicketkeeper fumbles before Mahela Jayawardene completes the relay catch showing superb reflexes. Ambati Rayudu has been sent out to bat at number three in the batting order following the dismissal of Ajinkya Rahane. Just three runs and a wicket from the over. Ajinkya Rahane c Jayawardene b Dhammika 8 (19)
India 17/0 in 6 overs Lahiru Gamage comes on to bowl his third over. Unlike Mathews, Gamage is pitching the ball up and outside the off-stump, forcing the batsmen to play the drive on the up. Ajinkya Rahane is resisting the temptation as he is looking to play through extra cover and mid-off region. Even as runs are not coming easily, Indian batsmen would be happy as there has been little threat to their wicket in conditions offering a bit to the pacers. Just four runs from the over.
India 13/0 in 5 overs Angelo Mathews comes on to bowl his third over. He is coming round the wicket for Shikhar Dhawana and angling the ball back into the batsman. He is bowling a tight line, not offering enough room to the batsmen as the Indian openers are taking far too many quick and risky singles. Just four runs scored from the over.
India 9/0 in 4 overs Lahiru Gamage comes on to bowl his second over after bowling a maiden first up. A fielder is placed at short fine leg for Ajinkya Rahane who tends to play the leg glance quite frequently. Five dot deliveries peppered outside the off stump and a single from the over. Just one run conceded in the over.
India 8/0 in 3 overs Angelo Mathews comes on to bowl his second over. He is pitching the ball at a good length just outside the off stump. He concedes a single and a two off the first two deliveries before bowling two consecutive dot deliveries. Just four runs scored from the over.
India 4/0 in 2 overs Lahiru Gamage takes the second new ball as he comes on from the the end. He is pitching the ball full and making it move away from the left-handed Shikhar Dhawan. He is getting beautiful shape with the ball. Six dot balls from the over, first maiden of the match.
India  4/0 in 1 over Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan open as expected. The latter plays the entire over but a boundary from Angelo Mathews’ opening over is all he could manage.
India need 275 to win. Its a case of shooting themselves on the foot and then clawing their way back, if Sri Lankan innings were to have a pattern here. After the early collapse, the batsmen fought back through Kumar Sangakkara’s stewardship early on and Angelo Mathews, 2014′s top run getter yet again continued his awe-inspiring form. The middle order collapsed and Dhammika Prasad showed brains, panache and technique to guide the Lankans to a competitive score.
Sri Lanka 274/8 in 50 overs Ishant will bowl the final over of the innings and Mathews takes a single of the first ball. The pacer drifts down the leg-side and Prasad, yet again is at ease with the bat and flicks the ball to the deep mid-wicket fence. Its a no-ball and free hit. The free-hit ball is a hostile short delivery and the batsman, Prasad gets out of the way of the delivery. It’s the fifty partnership  between these two and Angelo Mathews finishes things off on a good note.
Sri Lanka 261/8 in 49 overs Prasad has played a sensible cameo here barring one delivery in the previous over, where the tailender misread Ishant’s short delivery but the ball fell in between two fielders in the deep. Umesh Yadav’s 49th over is tidy as it comes and yet again, shows good promise with the short ball. The last delivery of the over, however, goes down the legside and Prasad taps the ball fine for a four, undoing all the initial hardwork put in by the bowler.
Sri Lanka 245/8 in 47 overs Prasad is showing more application than some of the middle order batsmen and it could be a case of spelling things out a little too soon. Six singles come of the over.
Sri Lanka 240/8 in 46 overs Ishant Sharma is into the attack and oh boy, its a no-ball. How does he keep getting into these positions? The follow-up delivery i.e free hit ball is a good yorker and the ball is dug out for a single down long off. Ishant then tries the back-of-the-hand slow delivery and Prasad lifts the ball over the cover fielder and the ball runs into the boundary ropes. Its was all to easy from the batsman. Its full and wide from Ishant and the bal is running away to the cover boundary and Umesh Yada dives full length and saves a certain boundary and the team applauds the superlative effort. 11 of the over.
Sri Lanka 228/8 in 45 overs Umesh Yadav is back on and possibly to end the innings on a good note. the short delivery is in operation again and the tailender is on all fours. Just as I saw that, Yadav sprays the ball outside off-stump and Prasad cuts the ball through the off-side and its a boundary. Eight runs of the over.
Sri Lanka 220/8 in 44 overs Again, Randiv does the initial good work and throws his wicket away. First, he flirts with danger,  trying to play a reverse sweep and then gives room to go for a big shot and Ashwin ends up bowling him all ends up. Dhammika Prasad is watchful and struggles to get any runs and its another wicket maiden.S Randiv b Ashwin 10 (13)
Sri Lanka 220/7 in 43 overs Axar Patel is intro the into the attack and Randiv lofts the ball past mid-on and its a couple. Axar is the bowler. Randiv displays further batting potential in cutting the ball down fine, it beats the short third man fielder and its a boundary. He then strokes the ball to the deep and the batsmen take two. Nine of the over so far and Randiv keeps the strike with a single of the last ball.
Sri Lanka 210/7 in 42 overs Jadeja is back on and there is loud shout for LBW but Randiv got the toe end of his bat while playing the sweep shot. The Lankan batmsen take singles of the next few balls. Five of the over.
Sri Lanka 205/7 in 41 overs Why Thisara why? You have a set batsmen and have 10 overs to play. The Sri Lankan all-rounder decides to slog Axar, only to get yorked and that ends his stay at the crease. Terrible batting and the entire middle-order is culpable for it. Suraj Randiv sees out the rest of the over and its a maiden wicket over. T Perera b Axar Patel 10(10)
Sri Lanka 205/6 in 40 overs Jadeja back on and the Angelo Mathews is putting the spinner to the sword here. Full deliveries, one around the wicket and over the wicket and the Sri Lankan captain beat the fielders inside the circle on both occasions for boundaries. He makes it three in a row with moving across and belting the ball for yet another four. The batsmen cross for a single and Thisara Perera flexes his muscles and the ball sails over the sightscreen for a huge six. Big over for the Lankans
Sri Lanka 185/6 in 39 overs Ravichandran Ashwin is into the attack now as Kohli goes for the kill. Couple of singles to start the proceedings and Ashwin slows the ball up and pitches the ball slightly short too. Yet again, the batsmen struggle to get runs and just two of the over again.
Sri Lanka 183/6 in 38 overs Wrecker-in-chief and may I add, a live blogger’s nightmare, Jadeja is on for another over. Predictably, he darts the ball in, suffocates the batsman by giving him little time to think and its yet another excellent over by the left-arm spinner. Just two from it.
Sri Lanka 181/6 in 37 overs Ishant is back on and after all the madness that ensued in the previous over, Sri Lanka desperately need to calm things down through these batsmen or risk getting bowled out in the next few overs. There is nearly another run-out in the over but Angelo Mathews grounds his bat on time.
Sri Lanka 179/6 in 36 overs First over after the drinks break and Prasanna is not hanging back here. Its a bad delivery from Jadeja; on good length but down the leg side with the fine leg inside the circle and the ball is swept fine for a boundary. The next delivery is towards the middle stump and the batsman goes for the same shot but only ends up finding Rayudu in the deep. Oh wait….Rayudu again in action and this is sheer madness by the Sri Lankan batsmen. Ashan Priyanjan calls for second, which was never there and Rayudu’s flat throw ends his stay. India are on top here. S Prasanna c Rayudu b Jadeja 13(14), A Priyanjan Run Out 1(2)
Sri Lanka 172/4 in 35 overs Ishant Sharma is back on. The short delivery that has worked well for the Indian bowlers in the last few overs proves to be costly here as Prasanna hooks the ball over fine leg and its a SIX. The ball is then ploughed down the ground, beating the fielders inside the circle and its only a single. Mathews then reads Ishant’s slow delivery, charges down and again crashes the ball through the cover region for another boundary and then keeps the strike of the last ball. 12 runs of the over!
Sri Lanka 160/4 in 34 overs Jadeja comes in and its Seekkuge Prassana who is on strike and a pull from the new batsman almost finds Dhawan again at deep square leg but it falls just in front of him. Single. Mathews then goes inside out and loft the ball beyond the reach of the long on fielder for a boundary and that’s his fifty and a timely one at that.
Sri Lanka 155/4 in 33 overs Umesh Yadav strikes again and it is the crucial wicket of Kumar Sangakkara. The length is slightly short from the pacer and the southpaw decides to hook it and it only goes as far as  Shikhar Dhawan at long on. The former and current Sri Lankan captains were hammering India all over the park and the wicket could not have come at a better time. K Sangakkara c Dhawan b Yadav 61 (86)
Sri Lanka 154/3 in 32 overs Ravichandran Ashwin is brought onto bowl his ninth over. The off-spinner comes on as Sri Lanka take the batting Powerplay. The first couple of deliveries are guided for singles followed by a dot delivery of the third one. It is followed by three more singles. Five runs scored from the over.
Sri Lanka 149/3 in 31 overs Umesh Yadav has been brought back into the attack to bowl his sixth over. Angelo Mathews doesn’t spare the Vidarbha pacer as he hits him boundary off the second ball and follows it p with another four off the fourth ball of the over. 11 runs scored from the over.
Sri Lanka 138/3 in 30 overs Ravindra Jadeja comes on to bowl his fifth over. The left-arm spinner is going through his overs pretty quickly. He is bowling fast, flat and at the stumps. The fourth ball is whacked for a boundary. Seven runs scored from the over.
Sri Lanka 131/3 in 29 overs Ravichandran Ashwin is brought back into the attack to bowl his eighth over. the off spinner starts off well, but is hit for a boundary off the second ball. Sri Lanka 118/3 in 25 overs Axar Patel is brought back into the attack to bowl his seventh over. The left-arm spinner has been in fantastic form ever since he has made his international debut. He is mixing up the tossed up deliveries well with the flatter ones. Three runs scored from the over.

Hello and welcome to the live cricket score updates of the second One-Day International (ODI) between India and Sri Lanka in Ahmedabad on Thursday. This was followed by some exceptional fast bowling by Umesh Yadav and Varun Aaron to start off India’s proceedings.
